What makes a flexi-job in logistics in Antwerp so interesting?

Antwerp is the logistics heart of Flanders. With the port, numerous distribution centers and production companies, there is always demand for flexible workers. A flexi-job in logistics allows you to earn extra without needing a permanent contract. Whether you are a student, retiree or simply want to earn some extra money: the sector is open to everyone.

In a flexi-job you work under a specific status that is beneficial for your net salary. You pay less tax and build up social rights. Moreover, jobs in logistics are very diverse: from order picking and packing to forklift driver or night warehouse worker. Many companies in the Antwerp port and surrounding municipalities such as Boom, Schoten and Wilrijk regularly look for flexi workers.

Popular flexi-jobs in logistics

Warehouse worker: order picking, packing and sorting in a distribution center.

Transport worker: loading and unloading trucks, or riding along as a co-driver.
Production worker: simple assembly or packing work in a factory.
Weekend or evening work: many logistics processes run 24/7, so flexi workers are often welcome in shifts.

Frequently asked questions about flexi-jobs

Where do you earn the most as a flexi-jobber?
In petrochemicals and in the port, the highest hourly wages are often paid for flexi-jobbers in logistics. Transport roles with a special driving license (C/CE) also pay more. On average, the gross wage is between €15 and €20 per hour.
Can you do a flexi-job in transport?
Yes, absolutely. Transport companies regularly look for flexi drivers for trips at peak times or on weekends. You do need a valid C or CE driving license and a driver card, but co-drivers or load controllers can also work as flexi workers.
Which professions can you do as a flexi-job in logistics?
You can work as a warehouse worker, order picker, forklift driver, production worker, packer, shipping clerk, co-driver, courier or even as a dispatcher. Almost every operational role in logistics is suitable for flexi-jobbers.
How much do you earn in a flexi-job?
Your gross wage is the same as that of a permanent employee, but because you pay less social security contribution, you keep more net. Count on around €14 to €18 net per hour, depending on the role and any shift premiums.
Are there many flexi-jobs in the Antwerp port?
Certainly. The port is one of the largest employers in the region and the logistics chain runs 24/7. Companies in the port, on Linkeroever and in the Waaslandhaven often look for flexi workers for all kinds of tasks, from warehouse work to transport.
Can I combine a flexi-job with a student job as a student?
Yes, that is possible. Your student job does not count towards the ceiling of your flexi-job, as long as you meet the conditions. That way you can work as a student during the day and do a flexi-job in the evening or on weekends.
