Student job in logistics in Flanders: find your match without hassle

A student job in logistics is a smart choice if you like being physically active, want flexible hours, and are looking for a good income alongside your studies. It's no longer backbreaking physical labor; modern warehouses and distribution centers use smart tools and ergonomic processes. Moreover, the demand for logistics staff in Flanders is strong, thanks to the many ports, industrial estates, and distribution centers.

What is a student job in logistics?

A student job in logistics involves tasks related to goods handling: receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shipping. You'll work in warehouses of companies in the logistics sector, but also in hospitals or care homes where internal logistics is crucial. As a student, you often work under a student employment agreement, with a maximum of 475 hours per year at reduced social security contributions.

Popular student jobs in logistics

Not every logistics job is the same. These are the roles where you can most often get started as a student:

• Warehouse worker or order picker: You collect orders with a scanner and prepare them for shipment. Sometimes you use an electric pallet truck, for which you'll receive internal training.
• Packer or repacker: You check and pack goods according to customer specifications. Accuracy is key.
• Transport planner support: Help with planning routes and communicating with drivers. Requires administrative skills.
• Returns clerk: Process returns and re-enter them into the system.

Logistics jobs in healthcare: care home and hospital

A lesser-known but fascinating branch is healthcare logistics. As a logistics worker in a care home or hospital, you help with internal goods flows: distributing meals, delivering linens, restocking medical supplies, or waste processing. This work is often structured and takes place in a calm environment. You usually work during the day, though weekend and evening shifts may occur. For students interested in healthcare, this offers a unique insight.

Student job logistics in Antwerp and other cities

Flanders has many logistics hotspots. Student job logistics Antwerp is by far the most popular, with the port and numerous distribution centers on the Left Bank and in the districts. But regions like Ghent (Canal Zone), Bruges (Zeebrugge), and Limburg (Genk, Hasselt) also have high demand for students. Even smaller cities like Roeselare and Sint-Niklaas offer local opportunities. With our filter, you can limit your search to your own province or a radius around a postal code.

What skills do you need?

You don't need any experience to start. A hands-on mentality, punctuality, and motivation weigh more than a diploma. However, a few things are useful:

• Physical condition: You stand most of the day and occasionally lift something.
• Accuracy: A wrongly scanned item can cause problems later.
• Work pace: Targets are realistic and achievable, but you do need to keep working.
• Basic Dutch or English: To understand instructions and talk with colleagues.
